This photo was taken in the wild Dolly Sods Wilderness area (Bear Rocks Preserve) in the northern part of the state. In June 2021, I took my first trip to the area, and I quickly learned how it got its name. Another photographer nearby confirmed that there was a female black bear and cubs in the area. Be sure to arrive early for sunrise or sunset as this is popular spot for photography groups and nature enthusiasts.
