Julie Albert, right whale coordinator for the Marine Resources Council, gave an update Thursday night on the calving season. Even with four calves birthed this season so far, there are only about 413 North Atlantic right whales left in existence. \"If we didn’t have our volunteer network helping us, we wouldn’t know a lot about what we do about right whales,\" Albert said.
